Extensions are third party features that expand the functions of Google Chrome. I have tested many different extensions throughout my time in the classroom and while facilitating the implementation of technology in the classroom. Here are some of my favorites.
Many schools have approved lists of extensions they allow their users to install. They may have separate lists for faculty & students. The reason they may limit which extensions are allowed is related to data security and student information. Some extensions request more information than is needed in order to function properly and allowing those developers access can result in a breach of privacy. The items listed below may/may not meet the criteria set by your district.Screencastify-Create screen recordings/videos that can be saved to Google Drive, downloaded as an MP4 or Gif file
Tab Scissors-Separates the current browser into separate windows from the current tab
Tab Glue-joins separated windows into a single window
Screen Reader Simulator-Simulates how a screen may be viewed by someone with specific disabilities or impairments. Great tool to use if you want to improve accessibility of your resources.
Tab Resize-Splits the tabs into separate windows, but allows you to choose a few different layouts with as many as four new windows (not recommended on small screens).
Simple Audio Recorder-Works on PC, Mac and Chromebooks and allows audio recording from within the browser. You can then upload them to slides as narrations.
Grammarly-Analyzes your writing and offers suggestions.
