Google Classroom simplifies creating, sharing and grading files for students. It can be a great help reducing the amount of paper used in the classroom and allow resources to be compiled in a way that makes student accessibility much better than traditional resources.
You can access Classroom multiple ways. The first is to click on the waffle after you open a new tab in Chrome, then scroll down to the icon. Another way is to type the address in the search box (omnibox). This will quickly allow you to access any classes your have created in Google Classroom. If it is your first time to Classroom, you will have some additional permissions you will need to provide first.
Once your reach the Classroom homepage, you will see a list of all your classes you have created or are enrolled in as a student or co-teacher.
To create a new class in Classroom, from the Google Classroom home screen, select the + icon and scroll down to Create Class. From there the only required element to get started is a Class Name. All other information is optional, but useful for organizational purposes.
There are a few ways to get students enrolled in your class.
Directly add students from within the class.
You can also join through the use a class code. Share the code with the class then have them join on their own.
Google Classroom has 4 main tabs or pages.
From the stream tab you can share announcements, respond to student posts and view upcoming events for the class.
The classwork tab allows you to view the shared calendar for the class, the Class Drive folder and assign work. You must create an assignment before you can organize the work.
When you open the create button you get the option to create an assignment, a quiz, a question, material, a topic or reuse a previous post.
